Score: WG-76.5, Auburn-64.5

Record: 1 - 0

Meet Summary:  Threatening skies held off for the opening dual meet of the 2010 season. But Auburn did not hold back. They pushed the from the opening event and were soon in a see-saw battle with the Wildcats. The 'cats won the opening 4x800 but gave up 1st and 3rd in the 400 intermediate hurdles. They won the 100m(Bri McGraw) and 1500m(Abby Kastick) but gave up the 4x100. A win in the 400m(Katie Bott) was followed by an Auburn victory in the 100hh. Off the track, WG won the TJ(Mo McInerney) and Discus(Erica Fitch), but gave up first place in the shot put, pole vault, high jump and long jump. With four track events remaining, they trailed. Then, Laura Leff took command of her 800m event for first place. Katie Bott followed with a win in the 200m, and  Amy Hannahan matched that, coming from behind to take the 3000m. This set the stage for the 4x400. Laura Leff battled to a virtual tie in the opening leg and Kelly Powell then took command of the race. The 'cats never looked back. Alex Incaudo maintained a lead that Katie Bott increased as they sealed the team victory with a 4:21.4 first-place effort.

Outstanding Performances:  Laura Leff(4x800/800m)/Erica Fitch(Discus)/Katie Bott(400m/200m)

Meet: CNS Coed Relays, 4/10/10

Meet Results

Score: Team - 10 of 15

Meet Summary: Team place is seldom the intent of invitational participation, where focused individual/squad performances matter more. With some key team members off taking ACT's and others ill or injured, the 'cats took a small 19 girls team to CNS to confront the brisk winds and chill temperatures of early April. With chances for superlative times/distances diminished due to weather, effort levels were key and those were mixed. On the up side, notable seasonal field-event PR's were registered by Naomi Schofield in the discus and Jessica Hillery in the Triple Jump. The 4x1600 saw a spirited match in the seeded heat between Laura Leff and Jodi Robinson of Rush-Henrietta where a late surge by Robinson and heat-of-the-moment swallowed gum by Leff gave the victory to Robinson. Stranger things have happened. Laura later returned for the SMR anchor leg and powered away from the field in her third 200m of the 800 to produce a medal victory for the 'cats squad of Katie Bott(400), Bri McGraw(200) and Alyssa Zeman(200). The team now prepares for the 4/17 Jordan-Elbridge Invitational and a slightly larger travel squad.

Outstanding Performances: Jessica Hillery(TJ)/SMR

Meet: Jordan-Elbridge Invitational, April 17, 2010

Meet Results

Meet Summary:  A cross-country meet in April? That's what it seemed like most of a day that included rain, winds and, of all things, grauple spotting the track prior to the 400m event. The throws and field events, not surprisingly, suffered. Those performances failed to hit targeted distances. The sprinters, also, found it hard to get fully warmed for their short events. The longer distances had more success--and two meet winners. Katie Bott outdistanced the field in the 400m, and Laura Leff did the same with another sub-10:40 3000m, her 4th since November. Lopping over 10 seconds off her previous PR, Kelly Powell placed 2nd in the 1500, followed by Abby Kastick in 3rd. When the team re-boarded the warmth of the bus in early afternoon, they'd earned every degree.

Outstanding Performances:  Laura Leff(3000m)/Kelly Powell(1500m)

Meet: WG @ Fayetteville-Manlius, April 21, 2010

Meet Results

Score: WG - 31, F-M - 108

Record: 1 - 1

Meet Summary: The Green Hornets put a good old fashion butt-whipping on the Wildcats, who were without the services of several top team members. Chasing the competition brought several personal records, including an impressive 8-0 vault by Ali Miedaner and a 1:02.2 400m by Kelly Powell. Laura Leff was able to break up the F-M distance phalanx with a 2nd in the 1500m and a 3rd in the 800m. Those were the only Wildcat distance points to be had as the Hornets won every event but pole vault.

Outstanding Performances:  Ali Miedaner(Pole Vault)/Kelly Powell(400m)/Laura Leff(1500m)

Meet:  WG vs. Central Square, April 27, 2010

Meet Results

Score: WG - 72; Central Square - 69

Record: 2 - 1

Meet Summary:  They knew it would be tough. A poor day by the throwers made it tougher, bringing the meet to the final event for resolution. Fortunately, the 4x400 relay of Kelly Powell, Paige Copeland, Alyssa Zeman and Katie Bott was too tough for C-Square and the 'cats left happy. The Wildcats won 11 of 17 events but were swept in 100hh and Shot Put and swept only one event themselves. It took a lot of individual efforts to put this one away.

Outstanding Performances:  Team Effort
